Onelife Fitness Military Discount - Although OneLife Fitness is a relatively small gym chain, it has made a name for itself in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions of the United States.
While I was traveling recently, I stopped by OneLife Fitness in Olney, MD to see if I could qualify for a membership.

So, is a OneLife Fitness membership worth it? A OneLife Fitness membership is worth it. In most places, you'll find a variety of equipment that offers different styles of training. The facilities are clean and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. You get access to some nice amenities and lots of group classes for a reasonable monthly fee.

The Olney, MD location opened in 2021, so everything is still clean and in good shape. The staff are polite and friendly. Some personal trainers walked around the gym when they weren't working out with clients, but none of them interfered with working out.
All the cardio machines are at the front of the gym. There's a floor area with two resistance machines, but there's still plenty of room for bodyweight exercises or some CrossFit WODs. A recovery room with massage chairs, a group exercise studio, a yoga studio and a personal training office can be found on the side.
The resistance machines and free weights are all in the back of the gym. Because everything is so far away, even if the gym is crowded, you still have room to lift.
Is A Onelife Fitness Membership Worth It? (honest Review)
In a secluded corner are two squat racks and lifting platforms, and on the other side of the gym are the back room. I love it because you can focus on your squats or deadlifts without being distracted by other people walking around.
The Olney, MD location also has a second floor with another ground floor area. The area has rowing, ski erg and a variety of functional training equipment.
Although Olney Place is new, it gets busy especially in the evenings. But given its size, you can always find something to do, even at peak times.
When I went there, there were people of all ages. Some members stayed on the cardio machines, but many members stayed in the weight room. Some teenagers were holding some machines and talking the whole time, but I stayed away from them. For the most part, everyone was minding their own business.

I also appreciated that members were good about wiping down their equipment and putting their weights back on, which can be rare in a large gym!
If there is a location near where I live, I will purchase a OneLife Fitness membership. Although this is to be expected for a gym that is only a few months old, I was impressed with how clean and organized the gym was! Still, it was a great place to work, and from what I've seen, other places open longer are just as good.
It's important to remember that this review is based on my experience at the Olney, MD location. Other locations may have different types of equipment, different facilities and serve different audiences. If you have any questions, I recommend calling your nearest location or visiting one of the clubs.

Membership options at OneLife Fitness are the same across all clubs. Exact prices may vary by location, but to give you an idea of what you'll pay, I've listed the prices for the Olney location below.
This plan costs $39.99 per month plus tax. The one-time initiation fee is $249, but if you join the seasonal promotion, the fee will cost up to $19.
This plan costs $49.99 per month plus tax. The initiation fee is usually $149, but if you join the promotion it can cost up to $9.
OneLife Fitness charges all members an annual club development fee of $39 every April 1st. These fees go towards upgrading facilities and equipment and hiring new staff when needed.

Some OneLife Fitness locations offer discounts to college students, military personnel and seniors. Before you join, I recommend asking the staff about these discounts if you think you might be eligible.
OneLife Fitness also has a corporate wellness program. If your employer participates in this program, you can save $5 or more per month on your membership.

At Onelife Fitness, you can find equipment from most of the leading fitness equipment suppliers. The Olney location has about two dozen treadmills from PreCore and FreeMotion Fitness and about a dozen elliptical machines from PreCore and Octane Fitness.
In the cardio area you'll also find half a dozen stationary bikes from Precore, Life Fitness, Freemotion spin bikes and stair climbers.
How To Save Money On A Gym Membership
Most of the resistance machines at OneLife Fitness are from Precor and Life Fitness. You can train all body parts with the various machines available. Some machines even have two, which reduces the chance of waiting or working out with someone else if the gym is busy.
The first floor floor area has a small selection of hex dumbbells, TRX bands, slam balls, medicine balls and resistance bands.
In the free weight area, you'll find plenty of flat and incline benches, three bench press stations, round dumbbells that go up to 100 pounds, and cast iron kettlebells from 9 pounds to 88 pounds. There were also EZ Curl bars that went up to 90 pounds.
Onelife Fitness has XD bumper plates that go up to 45lb and 5lb, 10lb, 25lb and 45lb hex plates. I've heard that some places have safety squat bars and chains, but I didn't see any where I went.

In the functional training area on the second floor, there are two Concept 2 Rovers, a Sky Erg, two Assault Air Runners, sleds, battle ropes, plow boxes and strongman-style lock bars. Kettlebells, slam balls and medicine balls are more common in this area.
OneLife Fitness has squat racks. The location I visited has two racks and three electrical cages, but other locations may have more or less.
OneLife Fitness has deadlift platforms, but the exact number of platforms at each club may vary. The Olney, MD location had one deadlift floor and four Olympic lifting floors.
At a reasonable price, OneLife Fitness has decent amenities. They may vary by club, but you'll find similar amenities at most OneLife locations.

Many OneLife Fitness locations have a cinema room called OneLife Cinema. This room has treadmills, stationary bikes and ellipticals. Some places have rowboats and stair climbers in movie rooms.
Onelife Fitness is not open 24 hours. Most locations are open weekdays from 5am to 10pm and weekends from 8am to 6pm.
